Mysterious Metallic Space Ball Falls From Heaven to Earth in Africa, Baffling Authorities…

A large metallic ball has fallen from the heavens and landed in a remote region of Namibia, spurring a lot of speculation about its origins and spurring local authorities to get NASA and the European Space Agency on the horn.
No one is sure where the hollow metallic object came from, but it definitely came down hard--it was found 60 feet away from its landing site, a hole more than a foot deep and 12 feet across.
Made of a “metal alloy known to man,” the 13-pound ball is about 43 inches in circumference and landed roughly 480 miles from the Namibian capital of Windhoek.
And it turns out it’s not alone. Apparently several similar objects have fallen across the southern hemisphere (in Australia and Latin America as well as elsewhere in Africa) over the past couple of decades.
So far, it has not exploded, hatched, or started to glow with a faint, eerie white light. Nor has anyone descended from the sky looking for it.

Abandoned Mystery 'Baby Noel' Miraculously Survives

In what appears to be a Christmas miracle, a five-hour old baby girl abandoned in a cardboard box on a Philadelphia sidewalk was discovered and rescued after almost being mistaken for trash.
Today, the baby dubbed "Baby Noel" by police and nurses is in stable condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, but her identity remains a mystery.
"She's in really good condition. We're very fortunate with the timing, weather and the church finding the baby," Philadelphia Police spokesman Ray Evers told ABCNews.com. "We had a lot of things that fell into place. If it was any closer, the baby would have been thrown out with the trash. It was scary close."
Police are asking for the public's help in searching for the mother. The infant was found in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, and they have had no leads on who she may belong to.
"We don't have anything solid yet," Evers said. "We're looking for anyone that knew of a woman that was pregnant in the neighborhood and isn't anymore to give us a call."
The infant was found on Wednesday in a cardboard box in front of a church. The box was dangerously close to a pile of trash bags and a telephone pole.
Homer Keller, an employee of  the church, was outside cleaning up when he spotted the box. He was prepared to throw it out with the rest of the garbage, when a sound caught his attention.
"I heard a little sound like a baby or kitten or something," Keller told ABC News' Philadelphia affiliate WPVI. "I thought it was a kitten, and then I pulled over the cover back off of it, and it was a baby."
The baby was "wrapped in a red and white hounds-tooth patterned blanket, an adult-sized brown women's sweater, black bathrobe with polka dots and a large peach colored towel," according to police.
Keller called 911 and waited for paramedics to arrive. The little girl was rushed to the hospital, where doctors determined she was miraculously uninjured and in good condition, even though she was only a few hours old and weighed only 5.5 pounds.
"I'm not a math guy, but the probability of everything falling into place [like it did] is very, very low," Evers said.
The Philadelphia Department of Human Services said that the baby will be in the hospital for "several more days."
The baby has pulled on heart-strings all over the country, with calls flooding in from across the nation with inquiries about adopting Baby Noel and donating money.
"We already have families who have been screened and foster families who want to adopt," Philadelphia Department of Human Services spokeswoman Alicia Taylor told ABCNews.com. "People calling today will not be able to get this baby, but we have a lot of other children who also need families."
Taylor said that if the baby's relatives are located, re-unification is always the priority. She said that even if the mother left the child, there are often cases where other relatives did not even know about the baby and might want to take her in.
Otherwise, Baby Noel will be placed in a foster home.
Authorities also want the public to know that there are proper ways for people in difficult situations to hand their children over if they cannot care for them. Philadelphia has Safe Haven laws that allow for children to be dropped off at places such as hospitals and fire departments.
For now, the man who found Baby Noel is just happy that he was in the right place at the right time.
"I don't want to judge anybody," Keller said. "I'm just glad the little girl is alive."

Bomb Blast in Niger state,Jos,and Abuja leave many dead and scores wounded

More than 20 church goers lost their lives this morning as two bombs exploded during Christmas church service at St Theresa Catholic church in Madalla, Suleja, Niger state.

A car rigged with bomb was parked at the premises of the church, which exploded around 8: 30 AM as church members left the church premises after the Christmas day mass. The second blast occurred when a suicide bomber drove a BMW car into the church premises. Apart from those killed in the attack, several others have been taken to the hospital for life threatening injuries. Many cars were also destroyed in the attack.

The Christmas Day attacks show the growing national ambition of the sect known as Boko Haram, which is responsible for at least 491 killings this year alone, according to an Associated Press count. The assaults come a year after a series of Christmas Eve bombings in Jos claimed by the militants left at least 32 dead and 74 wounded.

In Jos, a second explosion struck near a Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, government spokesman Pam Ayuba said. Ayuba said gunmen later opened fire on police guarding the area, killing one police officer. Two other locally made explosives were found in a nearby building and disarmed, he said.

"The military are here on ground and have taken control over the entire place," Ayuba said.

The city of Jos is located on the dividing line between Nigeria's predominantly Christian south and Muslim north. Thousands have died in communal clashes there over the last decade.

On Sunday, local police commissioner Tanko Lawan said two explosions had struck Damaturu, including a suicide car bombing. Lawan said that blast happened around noon, targeting the headquarters of Nigeria's secret police in the area. There was no immediate information about casualties, he said.

In the last year, Boko Haram has carried out increasingly bloody attacks in its campaign to implement strict Shariah law across Nigeria, a nation of more than 160 million people.

Two other blasts near churches on Christmas morning, including one near the capital Abuja, left at least 28 people dead.

"A bomb went off at the major roundabout and another one exploded at the [secret police] office," a resident in Damaturu, located in Nigeria's northeast, told AFP. "It is believed to be a suicide bombing."

Other residents gave similar accounts. Police could not immediately be reached.

In Gadaka, also in the northeast, "Christian worshippers were attacked at the church in Gadaka while observing a Christmas vigil," a resident said.

"The worshippers fled but the attackers burnt their cars they abandoned. Nobody was hurt and the church was not touched."

26yr old-Nigerian,Olutosin Oduwole, Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison in the US for Terrorist Threat!

A 26yr old Nigerian, Olutosin Oduwole, was on Wednesday December 21, sentenced to five years in prison in Madison County, for writing what prosecutors say was a note demanding money and threatening a Virginia Tech-like killing spree.

A jury convicted the former Southern Illinois University student in October of attempting to make a terrorist threat and unauthorized possession or storage of a weapon.

The judge sided with jurors in dismissing Oduwole's claim that he was an aspiring rapper, and that the threatening words were innocent lyrical musings. He was sentenced to five years on the threat charge and a year on the weapons charge to be served concurrently.
While Oduwole's friends and others say the purchase of weapons and his violent rap lyrics add up to a misunderstanding, police suspect they have in custody someone who was intent on carrying out the most terrible of crimes.
"The note was just one piece of the puzzle," said Otis Steward, an investigator in nearby Wood River who said Oduwole's allegedly fraudulent sale of a gun he never owned and his thirst lately for more firepower raised the level of police concern about him. At the time of his arrest, federal authorities had been investigating a gun dealer's concerns that Oduwole seemed overly eager to receive guns he had purchased online.

The threat note was found in Tosin's abandoned car by cops in July 2007, just a few months after the Virginia Tech massacre. The writing demanded payment to a PayPal account, threatening "if this account doesn't reach $50,000 in the next 7 days then a murderous rampage similar to the VT shooting will occur at another highly populated university. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!

The aspiring rapper insisted in court that he "did not mean to incite fear. That was never my intention. That is not my character." But he failed to convince the court the writing was innocent lyrics and other musings. Also, unfortunately for him, when they searched his on-campus dorm when he was arrested, cops found a loaded gun

Timbaland Admits To have Being In Love With Aaliyah!!!

Timbaland recently admitted to THS (True Hollywood Stories) that he was in love with Aaliyah. And I'm not talking about a brother and sisterly love. I'm talking about the kind of love that couples share. Now, if Aaliyah ever knew that Timbaland had these feelings for her,its is unknown, but whatever the case maybe,it seemed that Timbaland struggled with his feelings and kept them hidden.

Unlike R. Kelly, Timbaland refused to let his feelings for a minor get in the way of what the reality was. And that reality was that if he acted on any of his feelings, there was a high probability he would be going to jail or face some type of harsh backlash.....just like R. Kelly had faced..Well what a pity, too late for any of that now

Woman who jumped from bridge was missing Nigerian girl,Tosin Oyelowo

The woman who reportedly jumped from the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge on Friday was a 25-year-old MUSC student, according to police reports and various online articles.
Olutosin "Tosin" Oyelowo, a Nigerian national with roots in Wake Forest, NC, was last seen by motorists and pedestrians leaping from the Bridge, a Mount Pleasant police report states.
Calls reporting the jumping were received around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, according to reports. Police found Oyelowo's purse and driver's license at the summit of the bridge in the area where callers reported seeing her jump.

Police located Oyelowo's 2007 Toyota Yaris at a convenience store in Mount Pleasant where many pedestrians park to walk along the bridge's pedestrian path.

Water searches for Oyelowo by Mount Pleasant and Charleston police, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard, have not been successful in the days since the jumping was reported.

MUSC reported Oyelowo, a first-year pharmacy resident, missing when she did not report for work on Monday, said Heather Woolwine, university spokeswoman.

"We were concerned for her safety," Woolwine said. "When we couldn't reach her, we contacted police, and now it's really more in their hands."

Several websites list Oyelowo as being "missing" in South Carolina since Dec. 9. Though Mount Pleasant's police report lists the identity, confirmed by the driver's license in her purse and documents in her parked car, Charleston police have not released the jumper's name.

Time names "The Protester" 2011 Person of the Year

Time defines the Person of the Year as someone who, for better or for worse, influences the events of the year.
"Is there a global tipping point for frustration? Everywhere, it seems, people said they'd had enough," Time Editor Rick Stengel said in a statement.
"They dissented; they demanded; they did not despair, even when the answers came back in a cloud of tear gas or a hail of bullets. They literally embodied the idea that individual action can bring collective, colossal change," he said.
On almost every continent, 2011 has seen an almost unprecedented rise in both peaceful and sometimes violent unrest and dissent.
Protesters in a lengthening list of countries including Israel, India, Chile, China, Britain, Spain and now the United States all increasingly link their actions explicitly to the popular revolutions that have shaken up the Middle East.
Admiral William McRaven, head of U.S. Special Operations Command and overall commander of the secret U.S. mission into Pakistan in May that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, came in at second place on the Time list.
Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei, whose 81 day secret detention by authorities earlier this year sparked an international outcry, came in at No. 3, followed by U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.
Britain's Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who married Prince William in April, rounded out the Time short list.

Belgian Gunman kills four in Liege

Four people died and 123 were injured when a rogue gunman lobbed grenades and shot into crowds of shoppers at a Christmas market in Liege, Belgium.
The shoppers, many of them children, ran screaming for safety in the panic as the gunman, named as career criminal Nordine Amrani, 33, opened fire.

The dead included an 17-month old girl who lost her fight for survival in hospital this evening. Other victims included a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl, a 20-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman were confirmed as the other victims.

Police said tonight that the killer was a convicted sex attacker and drug dealer, who had recently been released from prison.

Men, women and children fled down the streets of the city centre - some still carrying shopping bags  as ambulances and police descended on the area.

Reports said Amrani,33,of Moroccan descent  used an FN FAL automatic rifle, a Belgian made rifle capable of firing 700 rounds a minute, a pistol and threw three grenades in the attack.

In the initial chaos, reports said up to three men had taken part in the attack, but the Interior Ministry later confirmed only one was involved, adding the incident was not terrorism-related.

Amrani was on his way for police questioning when he attacked a crowd near a bus stop at Place Saint Lambert, a central shopping square which is the site of the city's Christmas market and its main courthouse. It was not clear whether he committed suicide or died accidentally.

Police were on the scene quickly and sealed off the square. TV images showed blood splattered across the cobblestones.

Nordine Amrani was a career criminal who was recently released from prison early for keeping an 'arsenal' of weapons in his cramped council flat, it emerged tonight

An angry father, Dennis Akpati, attacked and cut off the penis of young graduate, Seun Ogunbanwo (pictured above), after catching him having sex with his 20yr old daughter inside his flat at 52, Tijani Alabi Street, Ijegun, on the outskirts of Lagos.

Ogunbanwo, a graduate of Business Administration who recently finished his NYSC was attacked with a machete and beat up mercilessly. Tthe machete was later used to slice his penis.
He was handed over to the police who took him to the hospital for treatment and later charged with having an unlawful carnal knowledge of a 20-year old lady before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The accused was brought to court by the police to face the charges but when the presiding magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, saw the pitiable state of the accused, she ordered the police to arrest the father of the victim (Akpati) and others involved in the battering of the accused and charge them to court for assault.

She explained that under the law, the accused is presumed innocent until found guilty, adding that nobody should be allowed to take the laws in his hands.

Ogunbanwo was alleged to have sneaked into Akpati’s home when the victim was alone and forcefully had sex with her. The father allegedly caught him on top of his protesting daughter.
The girl, it was gathered, was crying and attempting to free herself from him when her father came in. The father was so angry that he reportedly took a machete and cut Ogunbanwo all over his body, including his penis.

Another South African Woman Caught Smuggling 1.5kg Of Cocaine In her Dreadlocks On Flight To Bangkok

On the same day that a South African woman was being executed for drug smuggling in China, another one was getting caught trying to smuggle 1.5 kilograms of cocaine in her dreadlocks on a flight to Bangkok, it was reported today.

South African Nobanda Nolubabalo, 23, was arrested and held in Thailand's capital yesterday after customs officers allegedly noticed a suspicious white substance in her hair. Officials later carried out a search and discovered she had allegedly matted the Class A drug into her dreadlocks before boarding a flight from Brazil.Thailand's Bangkok Post reported that the smuggled cocaine had a street value of £93,000 (4.5 million baht or about 1.2 million Rand). It is reported that: "Authorities found something unusual about her dreadlocks.
"A search found traces of white substance which turned out to be cocaine."A total of 1.5kg of cocaine was found hidden in her hair."
Nolubabalo was today held in custody at Bangkok's international Suvarnabhumi Airport as she disembarked a Qatar Airways flight which had come from Sao Paolo via Doha.
The Bangkok Post reported that the suspect had allegedly admitted trying to smuggle the drug and claimed she had done so after being hired to work as a drug mule by a Thailand-based businessman for £1,200 (60,000 baht, about 15,450 Rand).

Thailand has some of the toughest anti-drugs laws on the planet, with judges permitted to impose the death penalty for traffickers.
The South African's arrest follows the execution of another South African citizen this week for drug smuggling in China. Janice Linden, 38, was killed by lethal injection on Monday after she was caught in November 2008 trying to smuggle 3kg of crystal meth into the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.

China Executes South African Woman for Drug Smuggling

China has executed a South African woman for drug smuggling, after rejecting appeals by the South African government to spare her life Janice Linden was convicted in 2009 of attempting to smuggle three kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in luggage through an airport in the southern city of Guangzhou. She later argued her innocence, saying the drugs had been planted in her suitcase. South African news reports say several government appeals had been lodged with Beijing to have Linden's death sentence commuted to life in prison. Those reports say Linden, 35, only learned a few hours before her execution that her final appeal had failed. Two of her sisters were allowed an hour with her before she was put to death by lethal injection. The execution is the second death sentence imposed by China on a foreigner in recent days. Last week, a 35-year-old Filipino man convicted of drug smuggling was put to death after a court in Guangxi province rejected an appeal from Philippine President Benigno Aquino to commute the death sentence to life in prison.
