Dark rivers of the heart

All of us are travelers lost,
our tickets arranged at a cost
unknown but beyond our means.
This odd itinerary of scenes
--enigmatic, strange, unreal--
leaves us unsure how to feel.
No postmortem journey is rife
with more mystery than life.

Tremulous skeins of destiny
flutter so ethereally
around me--but then I feel
its embrace is that of steel.

On the road that I have taken,
one day, walking, I awaken,
amazed to see where I have come,
where I'm going, where I'm from.

This is not the path I thought.
This is not the place I sought.
This is not the dream I bought,
just a fever of fate I've caught.

I'll change highways in a while,
at the crossroads, one more mile.
My path is lit by my own fire.
I'm going only where I desire.

On the road that I have taken,
one day, walking, I awaken.
One day, walking, I awaken,
on the road that I have taken.

Michael killed himself says his doctor in court

I have been wondering ever since he was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson how Dr. Conrad Murray would try to explain it away.

Now i know: He plans to argue that MJ did himself in.

Murray's legal defense will hinge on the argument that the pop icon gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol, a hospital-grade anesthesia authorities say killed him.

The defense will argue how Michael Jackson was a long-time Propofol addict, and that "Michael liked to push it" via IV, to the point of going to extreme measures.

His argument will attempt to establish that Jackson's own reckless behavior was the cause of his death, and refute that Murray covered up evidence in the case.

The doctor's story of the Jackson death timeline is likely to play out as such:What really happened June 25? Only Michael Jackson and Dr. Conrad Murray know for sure, and the latter has a markedly different version of events than the LAPD.

    * Around 10:50 a.m. on June 25, Dr. Conrad Murray gave Michael Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle, which is only about 1/8 of the bottle.
    * The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5-10 minutes, but the Propofol, along with Ativan and Versed already in MJ's system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period.
    * For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone much of the time. He didn't leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and the TV blaring.
    * Around noon, Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly woke up, frustrated he had spent nearly nine hours trying in vain to sleep.
    * The defense theory: MJ took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol, self-injected the remainder of it via IV and caused a massive overdose, stopping his heart.
    * Dr. Murray found Jackson with eyes open and pupils dilated, dropped the phone (he was speaking with girlfriend Nicole Alvarez) and performed CPR.

Eryka badu gets in trouble for going nude during video shoot

Singer Erykah Badu will be cited for disorderly conduct for getting naked in Dealey Plaza, the site of John F. Kennedy's assassination, for her video for "Window Seat."

Just when you thought you'd heard every nude scandal imaginable.

The Dallas Police Department announced Friday that "the statements from the witness would rise to the level of disorderly conduct," Deputy Chief Mike Genovesi said.

According to reports, a woman filed an indecency complaint after she and her two young kids witnessed Erykah Badu nude, filming a climactic scene in her video.

But it got people talking about her when they otherwise might not be, right? Hmm.Interestingly, it wasn't the nudity that got her in trouble.

"To shoot that, they would have had to get a special permit from the events office, and it would have had to specify what filming they were doing, what subjects they would use and any traffic control they would need," Dallas Police officials said.

"They definitely did not get a permit."

City authorities admit, however, that no one probably would have batted an eye about any of the violations (Class C misdemeanors) if Badu hadn't gotten naked.

"None of this would have occurred had she stayed clothed," Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway said. "But since she didn't, it elevated the need for making sure that we have policies in place that will protect folks and the integrity of the city."

Badu's camp has not commented on the citation, but "Window Seat" directors Coodie and Chike said Badu was "ready to be arrested on the spot" last month.

Dr. Conrad Murray’s woes

As Dr. Conrad Murray’s April 5 court date approaches, lawyers for Michael Jackson’s former personal physician have filed legal papers fighting California Attorney General and medical board attempts to have his medical license revoked.
Their rationale? Murray's financial difficulties.
“[Murray] is, without fear of overstatement, hanging by a thread,” his attorney wrote. “His ability to pay for his own defense depends almost entirely on [Murray's] ability to continue to treat patients.” Murray also owes child support payments.
Dr. Conrad Murray pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from Jackson’s 2009 death, ruled a homicide after the singer died of “acute Propofol intoxication.” Murray is believed to have given Jackson Propofol.
While losing his medical license in California won’t affect Murray’s finances directly - he has no patients or clinics in the state - Murray fears the medical board ruling would have a “domino effect” in states where he does practice, Texas and Nevada.
In fact, California’s move already reached Nevada, where the medical board filed the formal complaint against Murray alleging that the doctor failed to report delinquent payments in his child support when filing to renew his medical license.
That could result in the revocation of a Nevada license for Dr. Conrad Murray.
“If Dr. Murray is unable to practice medicine in Texas, and especially Nevada, he likely will face the inability to adequately defend himself of the charges facing him in the Superior Court of California,” Murray’s lawyers wrote.
In addition to administering Jackson Propofol, a powerful sedative usually reserved for hospital use, court papers have also revealed that Murray is accused of halting CPR on Jackson in order to hide vials of sedatives before paramedics arrived.
