Mp3 player for Unborn Babies

B(l)aby is the latest invention in technology that will soon allow pregnant mothers to play their favorite songs to their unborn babies.
The MP3 player for babies includes a contoured belt that surrounds a mother's waist. The belt includes 3 incorporated vibration speakers that transmit sound waves into the womb.
Inside the belt there's the MP3 player along with a USB adapter. Using the latter, mothers will have the ability to download musing to B(l)aby or they may choose to record their own voice for their baby.
The developer of the MP3 player for babies is Geof Ramsay, a Canadian student who developed BLABY by taking into consideration the Mozart effect - a theory that says the music of Mozart can make a baby more intelligent.
Music vibrations are transmitted to the baby with the help of in-built speakers. Besides, the developer claims that a mother wearing the belt can also benefit from 3 small massage mechanisms.
"Scientists have talked about music being a catalyst for an unborn child's mental growth for years. This simple device just gives mothers a chance to try out that theory and also to help form a bond with their baby before they are even born," says Ramsay.
Despite the fact that an infant is not able to hear the music, while in the womb, due to amniotic fluids, it can feel the vibrations generated by sound waves.
"There is evidence to suggest that feeling the parents' voices through the singing of lullabies during pregnancy creates a deeper communicable connection with the parents after birth," said the developer of B(l)aby.
Currently this latest technological invention is in the stage of development. According to Ramsay the price for the MP3 player will be soon announced.

Briton 'gets Chinese accent after bad migraine'

Sarah Colwill believes she has Foreign Accent Syndrome (FAS) which has caused her distinctive West Country drawl to be replaced with a Chinese twang, even though she has never even visited the country.

The 35-year-old from Plymouth, southwest England, is now undergoing speech therapy following an acute form of migraine last month which reportedly left her with a form of brain damage.

"I moved to Plymouth when I was 18 months old so I have always spoken like a local. But following one attack, an ambulance crew arrived and they said I definitely sounded Chinese," she said.

"I spoke to my stepdaughter on the phone from hospital and she didn't recognise who I was. She said I sounded Chinese. Since then, I have had my friends hanging up on me because they think I'm a hoax caller."

Colwill added: "The first few weeks of the accent was quite funny but to think I am stuck with this Chinese accent is getting me down. My voice has started to annoy me now. It is not my voice."

FAS has been documented around the world and is usually linked to a stroke or traumatic brain injury. It was first recorded in the early 20th century and there are thought to be only a couple of dozen sufferers around the world.

Researchers at the University of Edinburgh's Business School analyzed tweets by 13 celebrities using the micro-blogging site.

They used a computer programme to analyse word patterns to pinpoint underlying emotions and work out their relative happiness.

According to the study, the basketball player came out top, followed by cyclist Lance Armstrong and television presenter Jonathan Ross.

These were closely followed by comedian John Cleese, while tennis player Andy Murray and comedian Russell Brand were equal in fifth place. Rapper Snoop Dogg was the least happy.

Politicians followed in the study - Al Gore, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Barack Obama - tended to show emotion on single topics, such as climate change or healthcare, the study found.

Britney Spears, Philip Schofield and Boris Johnson were also included in the research.

The team also found the majority of tweets by celebrities were happy and positive, especially when they talked about forthcoming events or other celebrities.

The researchers now plan to use the technology to analyse the links between emotion and important lifestyle issues. They want to identify whether widespread social problems - such as obesity and alcoholism - have common emotional links that could be detected by following people's online communications.

The study focused on tweets made by celebrities because they tended to put more emotional content into their tweets and because the information was more easily available.

Dubbed "Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action," the event will take place May 15 at Virginia Commonwealth University and feature all-star performances.

More stars are expected to sign on in the coming days, with proceeds going to the Red Cross' Haitian relief efforts and the Central Virginia Food Bank.

"I wanted to find a way to contribute personally to the ongoing Haitian relief effort," said Brown, who's also spreading the word about the U.S. Census.

"I also wanted to support an organization that helps people in need right here in my home state," he added. "Everyone has to do their part."

Larry King and wife calls off divorce moves

The divorce rumors have swirled since last week, and been semi-confirmed. But are Larry King and Shawn Southwick still going to make this thing work?

"There's a 50-50 chance this divorce is not happening," King's lawyer Dennis Wasser says. "It's not clear to me which way he's going to turn on this issue."

Man, this guy changes his mind about getting divorced almost as often as he ... actually gets divorced. That would be seven times, not including this one.

Recent reports claim that Whitney Houston canceled the European leg of her tour because of illness.

But those that spotted the singer at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles on March 10 say there's a different reason behind Houston's change of plans: she's back on drugs.

This should come as no surprise to anyone that watched Whitney sing in Australia a couple months ago. It was an absolute trainwreck.

Now, according to some dude named Marlon David, Houston has a serious problem - and it was on full display at the aforementioned hotel's bar. Appearing disheveled and walking in with ex-husband Bobby Brown, Whitney allegedly screamed “I want a f*ckin’ drink!”From there, David recounts to In Touch Weekly:

“I saw her pull a plastic bag out, put a folded bill to her nose and discreetly snort a line from it of what to me certainly looked like cocaine. She’s extremely thin and looks like a disaster. She’s a hot mess.”

How did Brown react to this scene? He was actually disgusted by it, David said:

"He had so much trouble trying to control her. He tried to make her leave, but she wouldn’t. She started yelling his name loudly and calling him a stupid son of a bitch, and he told her to shut the f*ck up.”

Nike's new Tiger Woods ad - released just hours before the golfer's return to the sport at The Masters - is a confessional, solemn and emotional commercial.

It's also an ad from a sponsor that pays him eight figures a year.

Tiger himself says not a single word, but his melancholy stare speaks volumes. His late father, Earl Woods, narrates with excerpts from a previous interview.

With the golfer stoic in black and white, Earl's voiceover says: "Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are, and ... did you learn anything?"

Words that come to mind include "moving," "strange," "creepy," "bizarre" and "genius." It may be a little of each. Nike is clearly seeking to humanize its poster boy, but is this a tactless way of doing it? Is it really just a means of salvaging its own brand?

P-square wins Best African artist of the year at the Kora awards 2010

Nigerian pop group P-Square has been crowned best African artiste of the year at the 8th edition of Kora Awards held in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou on Saturday 5th of April.One million dollars is attached to the prize.That means they are 150 million naira richer!
